(2) White Spots on Tonsils Personal Experience Series: Social Life Killer

As part of  my White Spots on Tonsils Personal Experience Series, I have decided to share with you how my bad breathe as result of these cryptic tonsils ended up being a social life killer for me.  Kissing and loving killer to be more specific.

The smell from my mouth was so strong that it filled the car – my girlfriend couldn’t bear hold a converstion with me across the table. It was not just stale “coffee breath” – it smelled like something died in there- seriously… putrescence.  What could I have done. I was at my wits end- my girl friend couldn’t surely carry on with a relationship like this- all she did was avoid me. She could move from room to room in the house, I couldn’t hold a converation with her in the car. Hey you can guess what happened- she dumped me! Though she gave me another reason for ending the relationship, now in retrospect I am almost convinced that it was my bad breathe all stemming from the white spots on tonsilsthat had become part of my life.

Doctors would say it was  just a phobia to have such a feeling of bad breath.  All people around me indirectly told me how disgusting my breath was. They either drew back, covered their nose or had unpleasant expression on their face, the thing that made me very unhappy, depressed, complexed and disappointed. At one stage I worked as a laboratory assistant and my  job required a lot of contact with my students to either explain the laboratory practicals they were doing or check their lab reports. I was obsessed by the bad breathe feeling and tried as much as possible to keep away and not get very close to the students. It’s was a very annoying feeling that made my life very miserable.  My brothers  never admitted  it in words but I feel how disturbing my presence next to them was.

I have since referred to these  white spots on tonsils as  “smelly throat buggers” for they ruined my social life. I even lost my beautiful girlfriend. Good news is that since I got rid of the tonsil stones I have regained my confindence and social life. I can now openly confess that, “I can now get up close to the one I love and kiss with no fear of rejection whatsoever.” In one of my future posts I will explore how hidden tonsil stones affected my swallowing ending up with a lump  throat-but that’s for another day.
